Thousand Oaks

Thousand Oaks, California is the second largest city in Ventura County. Located in the Conejo Valley (Conejo means rabbit in Spanish!), the town was once a stagecoach stop in 1874. As the name suggests, there are numerous varieties of oak trees that inhabit the valley. Thousand Oaks offers a wide variety of arts, literature and music. The area is home to California Lutheran College as well as 22 public and 16 private, elementary, middle and high schools; many of them nationally acclaimed. With the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area’s network of nature trails, outdoor life in Thousand Oaks is plentiful. All things outdoor can be found:hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, picnicking, horseback riding and camping. In addition to baseball, softball, soccer and tennis to name a few, the city has 13 public and 5 private golf courses/driving ranges.
